An account of the November 23 2004, 7:00 AM LVEC Steering Committee meeting
(Agenda here)

There were other things that happened at the meeting after (Whig reporter) Derek Baldwin (who later filed this story ), as the meeting went in camera for a while and then resumed. These concerned unanswered comments and questions from the audience during the first part of the meeting, as follows:

  1. Irena Manoliu had suggested that they should hold off expensive architectural "concept plans" until after the feasibility studies were in and the site decided on. The chair, Ed Smith, reacted negatively. But then after the in camera session, he was asked about it again, and said that they had "come full circle" on that question: so apparently there won't be any fancy architectural concept plans, in spite of what it says in the Whig article.

  2. During the first part of the meeting, Lisa Webb brought up the issue of whether the public had ever been consulted about the Anglin Bay site. Smith referred her to the Task Force Report (40 pages PDF), and Betty Harlow stated that the appendices to the Task Force report showed that the Anglin Bay site was never mentioned in so called "consultations" etc. Ed Smith tried to shush Betty.  But after they resumed, he apologized for cutting off discussion, citing time constraints due to someone who had to leave. This time, Bruce Todd spoke again about the lack of public consultation on the Anglin Bay site and this time, Smith acknowledged that this was true.
